Podcasting with iChat and GarageBand
If you’re like me, you subscribe to half-a-dozen podcasts. I love it - like my own personal NPR station, with just the content I want. But have you wanted to make your own podcasts?
I’ve got plenty of recording gear at home, but for a great quick-n-easy process that doesn’t need a ton of gear, use iChat and GarageBand 3. As long as everyone involved has either iChat AV or AIM with Voice, you can track everyone in GarageBand, with each person on their own track for easy editing.
First, start up both iChat and GarageBand on your recording Mac. In GarageBand, select the Podcast template from the startup screen, and name it. Once everyone involved has signed in to iChat, start a voice chat with them. When everyone has joined the chat, hit record in GarageBand - it’ll detect the chat and start tracking.
When you’re done, hit stop in GarageBand, and you can edit, add effects, music, even add video or photos in time to the conversation.
