Google Reader

I read a handful of blogs on a regular basis - last count was 46 - and I have been a NetNewsWire user for years. I’ve been looking for a new reader, as NNW felt a bit restrictive, or maybe just a little musty, and Steve reminded me about Google Reader, a new project by the kids at Google. I have a Google account that I use, on occasion, for gmail, analytics, etc., so I added the Reader beta to my account.

So far, I’m really liking it. It doesn’t interfere with my work as much, and because it integrates with their Personalized Home Page, I can access my feeds on my Treo without a separate service. I know that del.ico.us has been providing that service for a long time, but this is nice and simple. Plus, Firefox will let you assign RSS feeds to it, so when you click on a subscribe link, it takes you right to your Reader account to add it. Beautiful!
