I often get razzed by my friends for having tons of personal/work email addresses. They think that I have way too many…..which they a very valid point. What they don’t know is that I’ve only got 3 POP email accounts that all my email aliases (addresses) flows through. An email alias is an email address (samuel@dogbark.com) that forwards to a POP email account. I can have spr@dogbark.com forward to the same account as samuel@dogbark.com. The use of aliases can greatly help the way you conduct business, or just help to alleviate using only one email address for everything online.Ways that I use aliases:- When I shop onlilne, I like to use a non-personal email address to place orders with. A recent example of this was buying some electronic gear at Buy.com. Instead of using my personal email account, I instead used: buy.com@- When I sign up for newsletters, or anything other solicited type of emails, I’ll use my standard “newsletters@” email account.- When I want to make sure that someone gets a hold of me, I’ll setup multiple aliases with multiple spellings just to make sure that person’s email gets to me. I DON’T use the “default” email section where someone can send an email to “xyz123@mydomain.com” and have that email delivered. This is just an open door for spammers to get their products in front of you.So….The point of this post is to encourage Dogbark customers to use the “aliases” for your email needs. How to master the art of email aliases???Log in to the Account Manager. Click on “domains”, then click on your domain, then click “email”. Fill in the aliases there, and where they forward to. And you’re all set!
