Mouse between Spaces with Warp

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

If you’re like me, half the time you’re on your Mac, you have one hand on the keyboard, and one on the mouse. When I realize that I need to flip to another Space (using Leopard), I’d rather be able to just mouse to something to move. Now, thanks to the brilliant Kent Sutherland, you [...]

AnyClient - FTP without an install

Monday, March 10th, 2008

AnyClient is a super-handy tool if your clients need to FTP files to you, but they don’t have an FTP program, or if you only need to FTP files occasionally. It’s Java-based, so it will work on Macs, PCs, and even some Java-enabled phones. The tool is certainly slower than a dedicated FTP client like [...]

iWeb Buddy

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

Disclaimer: I haven’t used iWeb Buddy, just saw a review of it this morning, and it looks like a must-buy for anyone that uses iWeb.
While iWeb is a great way to design sites simply and quickly, there are a lot of limitations - managing multiple sites, managing RSS feeds, etc. If you’re needing a bit [...]

Hivelogic: Installing Ruby, Rubygems, Rails, and Mongrel on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Yes, I’m a geek. And I like exploring new technologies - so much that I often feel like a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none. I’m not good at settling down and learning all of the deep subtleties of a given technology.

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

If you subscribe to our blog, you may have noticed our feed resetting today. Our blog developed a mysterious malaise a few days ago, and it took some intense surgery to sort it out.

Leopard: Screen Sharing

Monday, November 12th, 2007

One new tool in the Leopard Utility Belt is Screen Sharing. It’s built into iChat, but it’s also accessible through the Finder and directly through an app. Here’s how it’s important to our customers. If you’re running Leopard, and having trouble configuring something, call us with your current IP address and we’ll be able to take a [...]

Leopard: A few quick favorites

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

Let’s see, here are a few of my use-’em-all-the-time features:

Spaces. Without a doubt, the most used new feature for me. I have six spaces set up: one for generic browsing; one for communication - email, iChat, Twitterific; one for coding - Textmate, Terminal, Transmit; one for iCal; and two spares that I can launch new [...]

Glossy cat

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

My upgrade story starts with pre-ordering Leopard for the office two weeks ago.
An unnamed massive online store promised delivery some time between Monday and Thursday. As of noon on Thursday, no box, so I picked up a copy at the local computer box store. Time since release: 6 days.

Photo Drop

Friday, October 26th, 2007

Need an application that lets you resize, flip, watermark, post exif data, and many other features via a bulk action? Well, it looks like Photo Drop is just that application. It’s a free app and was featured in LifeHacker as the download of the day for Macs.
