A New Macbook

A few weeks ago my wife’s company sprung for a new Macbook to replace her very old dell desktop PC. I can’t tell you how excited I was to hear that she’d finally be using a Mac. She works in the New Media department of a record label, so it definitely made sense for her to use a Mac. It was a very interesting process doing the conversion from a PC to a MAC.

Her PC didn’t have a DVD or CD burner on it, and I tried configuring a USB drive 3 different ways to see if the MAC and PC would both read it, but the PC failed every single time. In the end we dumped all of her files onto her office server and downloaded them back to her macbook. It was a tough process, but the end result was worth it for her. The new macbook is even faster and more powerful than the one I have. They changed the keyboard around just a bit which was confusing at first, but now we’ve got it all figured out.

In any case, the new Macbooks are getting even better. I’ve enjoyed watching her learn how to use the Mac, she’s figuring out how easy it is to do things when you don’t have to deal with Windows. Plus, it only take a few seconds for her new machine to boot, as opposed to the 10 minutes it took her poor Dell :)
